We have been supplying this product throughout Europe since 2018, with strong year-on-year growth every year. AW was probably the first company to import this product by containerised cargo. We are proud to be one of the EU's leading importers of this product after encouraging artisans to develop a profitable production technique.
This product was originally made with glass blown (by hand) onto pieces of driftwood, the product was beautiful but a little expensive.
The breakthrough came when gamel wood (a by-product) was used instead of driftwood, which had limited availability. This, together with recycled glass and also thanks to a large-scale production workshop, gave birth to a beautiful economic gift.
Today, there are many small factories producing this type of product around Sukawatti in Bali. At AW we work with two family businesses, one of which produces full-time for AW.
Warning: due to the handmade nature of this product, there may be small imperfections in the glass, such as small bubbles and small scratches. Please also note that the pieces may vary from the photographs.
Recycled glass is melted in a gas furnace, moulded and shaped by an artisan. He then blows it into a carefully selected piece of Gamal wood. Glass and wood are numbered for reference and readjustment. The wood and glass then go through a finishing process and are assembled and packaged together. The trucks arrive at our warehouse for quality control, packaging and labelling.
